Go back in time and have a taste of the 20th century working-class family life in a place where wood tells the story of the past.
Visit the unique Wooden Cottages at Borek in the town of Třinec. These last two remaining timber houses from 1878 are a national heritage site, representing the disappearing traditional architecture.
By visiting four separate living units, you can find out about how people used to live, work and farm. The wooden walls speak of the joys as well as struggles of the working-class families, whose lives were governed by work and changing seasons. The Wooden Cottages at Borek are not just a heritage site, they teach us about the life of our predecessors. It is the ideal place for families as well as schools to come and experience the past and learn about the connection with the present.
